When mounted between two adjacent contactors, the VM4 unit physically prevents one contactor from closing as long as the other contactor is closed. This essential mechanical lockout mechanism prevents dangerous short circuits, phase-to-phase faults, or dual supply energization in critical switching configurations such as changeover systems, automatic transfer switches (ATS), star-delta starters, and reversing motor starters. The VM4 package includes 2 fixing clips (BB4) to securely hold and lock the contactor assemblies together in a rigid unit.
